Welcome to my official website. This is where my writing, questions, work, and the occasional tangent all tend to collide.

Writer • Author of The Tangent Series Welcome. I'm glad you are here.
I write because silence has already had its turn. Some things should disturb the peace. But I suspect it has taken a particular combination of righteous indignation and age to finally pry the words out of me. The timid little girl I once was would have curled into the fetal position rather than risk making anyone uncomfortable. Apparently, somewhere along the way, I aged out of that arrangement. My work is shaped by faith, hard questions, loss, grief, rejection, abandonment, and the exhausting work of separating God from what people have done in His name. It is shaped by what happens when theology collides with real lives, by a stubborn refusal to call enmity peace, and by the kind of reckoning that most definitely does not arrive quietly. Neither do I anymore. That truth has come at a price, and I intend to make the cost count. If what I have lived, learned, questioned, or fought my way through helps someone else see more clearly, stand a little straighter, or stop mistaking silence for peace, then perhaps that price does not end with me. This website is a place to gather the pieces. Here you'll find my books, writing, reflections, teaching, conversations, resources, and, inevitably, the occasional tangent that became far too interesting, or far too honest to leave alone. Impact is the tether running through all of it. I am interested not only in what happened, what was taught, or what we were told to believe, but in what it did to people. Much of my work confronts the places where trauma, betrayal, silence, and distorted theology leave their mark, and where church language has too often been used to cover what the Gospel came to confront. I certainly don't have all the answers, and I don't write as if I do. I ask a lot of questions, though. Usually one question leads to another, which leads to a Greek word, which leads to a rabbit hole, and, well... here we are. What I also cannot promise is that everything you read here will feel polite, comfortable, or particularly easy to swallow. Truth has a way of offending what harm has taught us to protect. I am someone who has lived life long enough to know that healing is rarely tidy, honesty is not always welcome, and grace was never meant to be used as a hiding place for harm. Pretending everything is fine may keep the room comfortable, but it does very little for the person quietly falling apart inside it. My hope is that somewhere in this work you may find language for something you have carried quietly, clarity for something you have struggled to name, or simply the relief of knowing you are not the only one who has wrestled with faith, questioned what you were taught, looked honestly at what you have lived and the impact it left behind, and wondered, there has to be more to the story than this. I invite you to explore, question, reflect, and even chase the occasional rabbit down the hole with me. And perhaps, somewhere along the way, you'll find a piece of your story in mine. Whether you arrived here looking for answers, trying to make sense of something that never quite sat right, or wondering whether you are allowed to question what you were told to accept, I'm grateful you found me. Thank you for being here. |
